Thats weird, having the same debate in our house.

Been to Norfolk and great as it is there is not much there really, so Dorset it is for a week.

85, that's the one, lovely place. Got another week after this one, I came here last year as well, lovely part of the country. As long as the rain stops which it's supposed to do I'm sure we'll have a great time cheers.

Re: Norfolk or Dorset for a few days break?
85, we went there on Sunday, caught the ferry across to the beach huts and and went up the fucking great hill that looked over Christchurch in one direction and the sea the other way. Then took the boy crabbing , lovely place. When I say we re in highcliffe , we re just outside it on a holiday park between highcliffe and Barton on sea.

If the rain ever stops we re off to the airshow tomorrow.

Highcliffe, not far from me. Lots of old people there but it's nice. Taken the steps from Highcliffe Castle down to the beach? Keep walking along the beach until you get to Mudeford, there is a good boozer on the quay, if you like seafood.

Re: Norfolk or Dorset for a few days break?
The last time I went to Dorest, I was in a hiking club. (my hiking club phase lasted for one weekend, the trip to Dorset).

The weather forecast looked good, so I ignored all the tips to 'come prepared', and turned up with a summer jacket, harrington probably, whilst all the serious walkers were in their cagoules and what not. (twats).

It pissed down for the long (3 day weekend), and I blew pretty much every penny I had on me a day and a half in on lager (there were a lot of pub stops), whilst the twats were eating their roasts and kendall mint cakes.

End of day two, starving hungry and soaking wet, we arrived at a hostel, that prided itself on being one of the last hostels in the country, that did not have any hot running water. Oh boy.

Day 3 and fond memories of shivering under a bus shelter, in the pissing rain, making the most of a packet of roasted peanuts, whilst the twats spent two hours devouring another roast meal.

It was very hilly and wet, and my memories of Dorset are not good ones.

Re: Norfolk or Dorset for a few days break?
I'm sitting in a lodge in the new forest typing this whilst it's pissing down outside. Love this part of the country but also love North Norfolk. Don't think there's a lot of difference really. Like anything in this country it depends on the weather you get. We've had four days on the beach and now I'm looking up at the sky wondering whether it will ever stop raining.

If you want a beach for the kids, then studland is the finest in Britain.

I live in Dorset, not far from Alwaysaniron-

So I'm bound to be a bit biased. Sandy beaches, good water. The further east you go from Bournemouth and Southbourne beaches (towards Hengisbury Head), the less busy the beaches are. Never been to Norfolk so can't comment on that.

No trip to the west country is complete without a visit to Tintagel Castle. Went there on a drizzly, misty day and it was magical.

The North Norfolk coast, no place finer on earth. From Holme-Next-the-Sea all the way over to Cromer. Beautiful village after village, amazing sands and amazing restaurants

Corfe Castle is excellent and you can then jump on the steam train to go to Swanage and have a Wimpy ;o)

Went to West Bay as well last week where they filmed Broadchurch and it was absolutely bloody packed along with about 1000 people crab fishing. One bloke (wasn't even a child) had a crab that he could have cooked. Body was about 10 inches wide and it wouldn't fit in his bucket.

Just down the road you can see the stretch of water where they practiced with the bouncing bomb for Dambusters on Chesil Beach. They have one of the bombs in the Swanery there.
